Listen: 5 Hidden Blocks Killing Your Manifestations

12 min

You're not doing it wrong. There's a hidden pattern in the way.

You've been doing the work.

You journal. You affirm. You visualize. You've watched the YouTube videos and read the books. You believe.

And nothing — or almost nothing — is moving.

If this is you, you don't need another technique. You need to identify which of the 5 hidden blocks is quietly cancelling everything you're doing.

These are the blocks that look like the practice is working — until you realize the universe is delivering you exactly what you're broadcasting, and what you're broadcasting isn't what you think.

Block #1 — Performing manifestation instead of embodying it

This is the most common, and the hardest to see.

It looks like: - Writing affirmations because you "should" - Saying "I am abundant!" while clenching your jaw - Filming Instagram stories about your "manifestation journey" - Telling yourself you're high-vibe when you're actually exhausted

What's happening: you're performing the behavior of manifestation while your underlying state remains unchanged — anxious, scarcity-driven, doubt-filled.

The universe responds to your felt state, not your behavior. If your behavior says "I'm calling in abundance" but your nervous system says "I'm terrified I'll never have it," abundance hears the second message.

How to break this block

Stop performing. Start feeling.

Before any manifestation practice, pause and ask: "What am I actually feeling right now?" If the honest answer is anxious, sad, doubtful — don't manifest from that state. Either tend to the feeling first (move your body, cry, breathe) or skip the practice today.

A 1-minute embodied practice from a regulated nervous system beats a 1-hour performed practice from a dysregulated one.

Block #2 — Manifesting from lack ("I need this")

The energy of needing is identical to the energy of not having.

When you say "I need money," what your nervous system actually transmits is "I do not have money and I am scared." That fear-frequency is what gets reinforced — not the receiving.

This is why people who chase money rarely catch it. The chase IS the lack. The lack IS what's being amplified.

How to break this block

Reframe every desire from "I need" to "I am open to receiving":

  • "I need a partner" → "I am open to a partnership that is right for me arriving in its perfect timing."
  • "I need to make more money" → "I am open to receiving money through expected and unexpected channels."
  • "I need to lose weight" → "I am open to my body finding its natural state of vitality."

Notice how the second framing has space in it. Air. Trust. The first has tightness.

The universe responds to invitations, not demands.

Block #3 — Secretly believing you don't deserve it

This is the shadow block. (See our full guide on Shadow Work for the deep version.)

It looks like: every time you get close to manifesting your desire, something happens to push it away. You self-sabotage. You pick a fight with your partner right when things are getting good. You ghost the client right when they're about to hire you. You get sick the week of the launch.

What's happening: an unconscious belief — "I don't deserve this" or "people like me don't get this" or "if I have this, something bad will happen" — is overriding your conscious wanting.

How to break this block

Find the belief. Sit with these prompts:

1. "What would having this make me — that I'm afraid of being?" 2. "Whose love or approval would I lose if this came true?" 3. "What did the people who raised me believe about people who have this?"

Whatever surfaces — that's the unconscious belief running the show.

Then: tend to that belief gently. You don't have to "kill" it. You have to show it that it's safe to soften.

This is therapeutic work. It is slow. It is also the most important manifestation work you'll ever do.

Block #4 — Constantly checking if it's working

This block is sneaky because it looks like commitment.

You write your affirmations, then check your bank account. You script your ideal partner, then refresh the dating app. You visualize your dream career, then anxiously refresh your email.

Each check is a small act of doubt. "Is it here yet? Is it here yet?" Each check confirms the underlying state of "it's not here yet."

You can't water a seed and dig it up every hour to see if it's growing.

How to break this block

Set a check-free window.

If you're manifesting financial abundance: check your bank account once a week, not 5 times a day.

If you're manifesting a partner: delete dating apps for 30 days, or limit to one 20-minute window per day.

If you're manifesting a career change: stop refreshing your email. Stop googling jobs every hour.

The check-free window is where the receiving actually happens.

The space between practice and receiving is where the manifestation grows. Stop trampling it with your checking.

Block #5 — Manifesting from someone else's blueprint

You "want" the influencer apartment because she has it. You "want" the soulmate that matches your friends' relationship. You "want" the income level that someone else announced on a podcast.

But when you do the deep work, you realize: it's not actually what you want. It's what someone else taught you to want.

The universe knows the difference. It does not deliver inauthentic desires — because at a deep level, you don't actually want them.

How to break this block

Ask the soul-level question: "If no one ever knew, would I still want this?"

If the answer is no — that desire is borrowed. Release it.

If the answer is yes — that desire is yours. Manifest it with confidence.

Most people, when they do this exercise, find that 60-70% of what they thought they wanted was performance. The remaining 30-40% is the real work.

Cleaning out the performance desires creates room for the real ones to land.

How to diagnose your block

If your manifestation practice has felt stuck for 2+ months, walk through this diagnostic:

Step 1 — How does your body feel during practice?

  • **Anxious / tight / forced** → Block #1 (Performing)
  • **Desperate / pleading** → Block #2 (Lack)
  • **Numb / disconnected / blank** → Block #3 (Unworthiness)
  • **Restless / craving to check** → Block #4 (Checking)
  • **Hollow / not really wanting it** → Block #5 (Borrowed desire)

Step 2 — What evidence are you collecting?

  • "Nothing's happening" — Likely Block #4 (you've conditioned yourself to look for nothing)
  • "It's coming for everyone but me" — Likely Block #3 (worthiness)
  • "I'm doing everything right" — Likely Block #1 (performing)
  • "I want this so badly" — Likely Block #2 (lack)
  • "I keep getting distracted by other things" — Likely Block #5 (it's not yours)

Step 3 — What would shift if the block dissolved?

This is the most revealing question.

If your block is unworthiness — what would you have to allow yourself to be? If your block is lack — what would you have to trust? If your block is performance — what would you have to stop doing for show?

The work is in the answer.

What to do after you find your block

Don't try to "fix" the block in a day. Blocks are protective. They served you at one point. They need to be integrated, not killed.

The protocol:

Week 1 — Just notice it. Each time the block shows up, name it: "Oh, there's the unworthiness." Don't fight it. Just see it.

Week 2 — Soften with it. When it shows up, place a hand on your heart. Speak to that part of you: "I see you. I know you've been trying to protect me."

Week 3 — Resume manifestation practice. Same affirmations, same scripts. But now you're doing them with the block in conscious view. The block can no longer secretly run the show.

Week 4 onward — Watch the shifts. They will come.

When you should get help

Some blocks — especially Block #3 (unworthiness rooted in trauma) — go too deep for self-help.

Get professional support if: - The block is rooted in childhood trauma you haven't processed - You experience freeze, panic, or dissociation when you try to feel your desire - You've cycled through this work multiple times and keep getting stuck at the same place - You suspect there are family/ancestral patterns at play

A therapist trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems), Somatic Experiencing, or trauma-informed manifestation work can shift things in months that solo work might take years.

This isn't weakness. This is strategy.
